The Stevan E. Downey Memorial Golf Tournament was started in 2005, and focuses on three key priorities:
- To raise money for the The International Mesothelioma Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
- To raise awareness of the relatively unknown and deadly disease Mesothelioma.
- To honor the life of Steve Downey by creating a fun annual event where family and friends, both old and new, can gather to remember old times as well as create new lasting memories.
This website was launched to help achieve these three goals. Whether you are a returning player or sponsor, or are just here trying to find out what we are all about, we hope you will find this site informative. Feel free to contact us with any questions or feedback.
We are excited for our upcoming 21st annual tournament on Friday, August 8, 2025 at Far Corner Golf Course in Boxford, Massachusetts with an 8:00am shotgun start. This will be our 19th year at Far Corner. Their 27 holes allow us to host over 200 golfers in a single flight, but more importantly, their impressive golf course and knowledgeable, attentive staff make it great day for all involved.
Our tournament has a long-standing reputation for being one of the most fun charity tournaments around. Competitive golfers will be sure to find challenging competition in our four-person team scramble format, and golfers of all levels will enjoy a great round of golf, fun contests, and guaranteed laughs. After the round, we gather for a BBQ-style dinner, silent auction, awards presentation, and more.
We hope you will join us in this worthy cause, either as a sponsor or a golfer, or both. Your participation is critical to the success of our tournament.
Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at Far Corner Golf Course in August.
